More Than a Trip — A Calling
Impact Journeys are volunteer trips to Bârlad, Romania that immerse you in the daily life of Delia's Center for Special Needs Children. You'll work directly with the kids, connect with the local community, and see firsthand how your support changes lives.
Whether you're tutoring a child learning to read, helping with art therapy, visiting a rural village school, or simply sitting alongside a child who has never had a visitor — every moment matters.
You don't need special skills. You just need an open heart.
What to Expect
Every journey is different — but every journey is transformative. Here's what fills your days in Bârlad.
Hands-On Project Work
Tutor children, assist with art and speech therapy sessions, help prepare meals, or support special activities at the center. You're part of the team from day one.
Village & School Visits
Travel to rural villages and local schools to see the communities the children come from — and understand why Delia's Center is the only lifeline for many families.
Cultural Exchange
Walk the streets of Bârlad, share meals with staff and families, visit local landmarks like the grape fields, and experience Romania's warmth and resilience up close.
Learning & Growing
Bake with the kids, plant a garden, do crafts together. Some of the most meaningful moments come from the simplest activities shared side by side.
Reflection Sessions
Process your experience through guided group reflections. These moments help you understand the deeper impact of what you've witnessed and felt.
Friendships for Life
You'll bond with fellow volunteers, the Romanian staff, and — most of all — the children. Many volunteers come back year after year.

Who Can Join
Open to individuals, families, or groups passionate about service. Age and skill requirements vary by trip — no special experience needed, just an open heart.
Destination
Bârlad, Romania — including Delia's Center, rural villages, schools in Vaslui County, the local orphanage, and cultural sites throughout the region.
Duration
Trips range from 1–2 weeks with flexible scheduling. We work with you to find dates that fit your life.
